A white to off-white crystalline powder, odorless and tasteless. Melting point: 304–305°C. 1 g of this substance dissolves in 107.5 mL of methanol, 147 mL of ethanol, 130 mL of ethylene glycol, 125 mL of chloroform, 357 mL of acetone, 435 mL of benzene, or 26 mL of water adjusted to pH 2.2. It exhibits excellent resistance to acids, bases, and UV light.
It is a systemic fungicide widely used for preserving and extending the shelf life of fruits and vegetables, preventing mold and mildew on materials like paper, leather, and paint, as well as serving as an intestinal deworming agent for humans and livestock.
