Pure product appears as colorless crystals, with a melting point of 177–178°C (decomposition). It is readily soluble in dimethylformamide and chloroform, and slightly soluble in acetone, methanol, ethanol, ethyl acetate, and dioxane, while being sparingly soluble in water. It exhibits stability toward both acids and bases. The industrial-grade product is available as pale yellow crystals.
It is a highly effective, low-toxicity, systemic fungicide used to control diseases such as scab in wheat, seedling-stage diseases in cotton, wheat rust, and fruit tree disorders.
