The pure compound appears as a white, odorless solid with a melting point of 185–188°C and a vapor pressure of 1.733 × 10⁻³ Pa (20°C). Its solubility characteristics are as follows: 11,720 mg/L in dichloromethane, 5,380 mg/L in acetonitrile, 280 mg/L in xylene, 1,660 mg/L in ethyl acetate, 1,380 mg/L in acetone, 990 mg/L in methanol, 3.1 mg/L in hexane, and 1,200 mg/L in water. The partition coefficient is 4.1. The compound remains stable in slightly alkaline (pH = 8) aqueous solutions but decomposes slowly in acidic conditions. At pH 5, its half-life is 11 days, while at pH 7, it extends to 143 days. The technical grade product has a faint yellowish tint.
Used for controlling annual and perennial broadleaf weeds, as well as sedges, in rice seedling fields, direct-seeded fields, and transplanted fields.
