This product appears as an orange-yellow crystalline solid. Its melting point is 48.5 to 49°C (42°C for the industrial grade), with vapor pressures of 2.65 × 10⁻² Pa (29.5°C) and 1.373 × 10⁻² Pa (25°C). The boiling point ranges from 96 to 97°C at a pressure of 23.99 Pa. It is soluble in most organic solvents—specifically, it dissolves at 58% in xylene, 40% in acetone, and 7% in ethanol—but is insoluble in water. The compound is highly volatile and prone to photolysis, yet it can be adsorbed and immobilized by soil colloids, exhibiting relatively stable chemical properties.
Used as a herbicide for various crops, including fruits, cotton, and soybeans.
