The pure compound appears as a white crystalline solid. Its melting point ranges from 115 to 117°C, with vapor pressures of 2.7 × 10⁻³ Pa (at 25°C) and 8.5 × 10⁻³ Pa (at 86°C). The relative density is 1.25. At 25°C, its solubility is as follows: 3880 g/kg in chloroform, 2650 g/kg in methanol, 836 g/kg in dimethylformamide, 790 g/kg in acetone, 940 g/kg in benzene, 386 g/kg in toluene, 3 g/kg in hexane, and 33 g/kg in water. The compound remains stable in aqueous solutions with pH values between 5 and 9 at room temperature, and it is biodegradable by microorganisms in soil.
Used to control a variety of annual and biennial weeds.
