A pale yellow, oil-like liquid. Its boiling point is 87–89°C (6.65 × 10⁻⁴ kPa), with a relative density of 1.1294 (20/4°C) and a refractive index of 1.495. It exhibits a solubility of 110 mg/L in water at 24°C and is soluble in most organic solvents. The compound is stable to heat and light.
Fenitrothion is a contact insecticide with both stomach and systemic activity. It effectively controls pests such as cockroaches, flies, and mosquitoes, and can also be used to manage cattle lice.
