The pure compound appears as a white solid, with a melting point ranging from 200.5 to 201°C, a relative density of 1.48 to 1.63, and a vapor pressure of 3.73 × 10⁻⁷ Pa (or 2.8 × 10⁻⁷ Pa at 20°C). Its solubility characteristics are as follows: 54.6 g per 100 mL in acetone, 2.23 g per 100 mL in dichloromethane, 13.75 g per 100 mL in methanol, 0.3 g/mL in hexane and toluene, and only 1.9 mg/L in water. The compound exhibits a partition coefficient (octanol/water) of 4.0. It remains stable under typical storage conditions, with a half-life of 135 days in water and an 8-hour half-life for photolysis in aqueous environments.
Primarily used on crops such as rice, sugarcane, and potatoes, it is also widely applied in animal health to eliminate parasites like fleas and lice on cats and dogs.
